I got a ticket riding my bicycle... What are my options?
You have a choice.....
A. Plead guilty, pay the fine & court costs, or
B. Plead not guilty, post bail and set a trial date, or
C. Complete an approved Bicycle Safety Class.
If you choose Option C and complete the bicycle safety class within the court approved time, the court will dismiss your case. This program is only available for traffic tickets issued with the jurisdiction of the Torrance Traffic Court.
You have 90 days from the day of your court visit to complete the bicycle safety class and present a class completion certificate to the judge at the court.
To register for a class, select from the calendar on the Class Schedule web page, enter your name, e-mail address, telephone number, citation number and choose an option for payng the fee.
Class size is limited; each event will show how many spaces are available.
Payment method is by PayPal or credit card upon registration. Cash option is not available for online classes.
When you register for a class you will receive an e-mail with a website password. Use your e-mail address & this password to login to this website if you need to make changes to your registration.
Once the class has been completed, attendees will receive a completion certificate that they must present to the Judge at the Court for the ticket to be dismissed. Presentation of the completion certificate to the court must be made at the 8:00am court "walk in" time, within the 90 day window.
People who register for a class but do not attend will be given the opportunity to reschedule, if within the 90 day window.
Violators who do not complete the course within the 90 day deadline will have to either, pay the full fine or attend the the court appearance.
